The Capital Markets Advisory Summer Analyst will become an integral member of the Capital Markets Advisory Group, a dedicated team focused on providing advice to clients on a broad range of topics in the capital markets.  Assignments fall into a range of categories, including IPOs, follow-on equity, convertible and debt offerings, private capital placements, liability management, corporate preparedness, activist defense, understanding shareholder bases of public companies, M&A and divestiture-related activities and general strategic advisory.  The Summer Analyst will work closely with all other groups in the firm, gaining exposure to a wide range of industries and transaction types, including high profile and cross-border M&A, activism defense, special situations, restructuring assignments, as well as financing and refinancing transactions. 

In addition, the Capital Markets Advisory Summer Analyst will participate in an on-going training program.  Classes held throughout the summer teach the basic fundamentals of banking, with a specific focus on modeling and relevant analytical techniques.  Depending on the project or initiative, day-to-day responsibilities of a summer analyst include financial analysis and modeling, company and market research, participation in the development of client presentations and interaction with senior bankers and clients to assist in strategic decision-making.  Summer analysts will develop comprehensive analytical and practical skills working on a variety of projects that will include a mix of pure advisory and execution work. Summer Analysts are expected to spend 9 weeks at the Firm.

Qualifications

Candidates should be university students in their penultimate year and top academic performers who are willing to work in an unstructured environment, which values initiative, creativity, maturity, and enthusiasm for learning. Academic backgrounds may vary (no background in finance or accounting is required), however candidates must be comfortable with basic financial concepts and enjoy quantitative work.
