The Activism Defense Team sits within the Capital Markets Advisory Group and is responsible for advising our public company clients on the full range of activism preparedness and defense strategies and tactics. The CMA Group advises on debt and equity capital markets, shareholder activism and defense, capital structure, strategic separations and corporate finance matters.
We’ll trust you to:
- Lead internal and external teams through preparedness work streams for live client mandates
- Work with activism defense team and banking colleagues to evaluate client vulnerabilities and defense strategies, applying lessons learned from market trends and data analytics models
- Oversee and lead the development of compelling and creative presentations for clients
- Actively participate in client engagements on pitches, marketing events and live defense situations
- Manage junior colleagues through the ongoing development of technology enhanced activism campaign data bases and maintain current Lazard credentials and proprietary materials
- Work with colleagues across CMA to evaluate public shareholder bases, strategic separations, capital allocation policies and other activist attacks and demands
You’ll need to have:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of meaningful experience in activism preparedness and defense at an investment bank or law firm
- Ability to work across interdisciplinary teams and experience levels
- Desire to manage people and processes, with demonstrated track record of success in a demanding and often stressful environment
- A confident and skilled communication style in both written and verbal format
- Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently
- Knowledge of public shareholders and corporate governance best practices

We expect the base salary range for this role to be approximately $250,000 – $275,000 USD. Various factors contribute to determining the actual base compensation offered, including but not limited to the applicant’s years of relevant experience, career tenure, qualifications, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and relevant skills for the role. Base salary is one component of Lazard Financial Advisory’s compensation package, which also includes comprehensive benefits and may include incentive compensation.
