Lazard is seeking a Reservoir Engineer to join the Power, Energy and Infrastructure team in Houston, Texas. This position will require independent and entrepreneurial workflows with investment bankers, technical personnel and clients to execute on M&A, A&D and other strategic advisory initiatives. The position offers an outstanding opportunity to contribute to the success of a premier independent advisory firm and provide engineering expertise to oil and gas clients across the globe.
We’ll trust you to:
- Perform upstream technical diligence and reserves analyses for live deals and business development opportunities.
- Work closely with corporate finance and third-party consultants to prepare technical marketing materials and help lead day-to-day process execution of live deals.
- Prepare upstream volume and cash flow forecasts supporting DCF models and financial summaries for clients, utilizing reserves economic applications as required (e.g. ARIES).
- Conduct deep-dive industry research with available data providers to prepare commercial basin studies and company benchmarking analyses across public and private E&Ps both domestically and internationally.
- Lead engineering technicians and third-party consultant workflows to manage reserves databases for multiple concurrent client engagements.
- Present technical work with high confidence and professionalism to executive-level clients and counterparties.
- Attend business development events, training and conferences as required to expand technical depth and support commercial efforts of the firm.
You’ll need to have:
- 8+ years of experience (E&P operator experience required; banking / A&D experience preferred)
- Engineering degree (Petroleum Engineering preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical execution of buy-side/sell-side engagements
- Strong quantitative background and analytical skills
- Exceptional Excel modeling & PowerPoint building skills with strict attention to detail
- Expert with reserves database software (ARIES, ComboCurve, PHDWin)
- Proficient with Enverus, Wood Mackenzie, Spotfire, Tableau
- High level of responsiveness with a superior work ethic and accountability
- Exceptional written/verbal communication skills
- Strong presentation skills (public speaking experience a plus)
