Experienced Associate – Frankfurt/Munich – Generalist

Lazard is seeking to recruit an experienced Associate to join the team in Frankfurt or Munich to work as part of client teams which provide a wide range of services, including: general financial advice, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, special committee assignments, takeover defenses, corporate restructurings, strategic partnerships/joint ventures, advice on capital structure, and underwritings.

Lazard offers an unparalleled opportunity to work as part of small deal teams on strategic and other assignments, providing meaningful exposure to senior bankers and client representatives.

The Associate serves as a key member of the deal team, working directly with Managing Directors, Directors, Vice Presidents and Analysts on engagements. The Associate will be given significant responsibility and will gain in-depth transaction experience, client exposure, negotiation skills, and an understanding of transaction structures.

We'll trust you to:

  • Build relationships and maintain direct contact with clients and prospective clients and professional advisors
  • Supervise junior staff members in financial analyses
  • Lead the planning and execution of marketing engagements
  • Prepare, analyze and help explain historical and projected financial information
  • Create financial models
  • Coordinate and perform business due diligence
  • Prepare confidential information memoranda, management presentations, marketing pitches and other presentations
  • Value companies and businesses
  • Assist in the marketing and planning of engagements

You'll need to have:

  • A minimum of 3 -4 years of investment banking or comparable experience
  • Outstanding record of academic achievement
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with an ability to build financial models with ease
  • Ability to manage own work and that of analysts in a high-pressure environment
  • Motivation to work as a team player and contribute to a positive team culture
  • Drive, enthusiasm, creativity and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Personal integrity, initiative and leadership qualities
  • Fluent German and English
  • High standards of professional and ethical conduct
