Lazard formed the Private Market Advisory (PMA) group to serve the unique needs of privately held companies and private equity sponsors. The PMA group builds on the success of the firm's long-standing middle market advisory business, by providing M&A and strategic advisory and private financing services, while leveraging the full resources of Lazard’s global platform.

 

Investment Banking Summer Associate Program

As a Summer Associate at Lazard, you will receive an excellent introduction to the full-time Associate program. You will begin your internship by participating in a week-long comprehensive training program in New York that will provide you with a robust foundation in the skills you need to be successful here.  This training is then supplemented by the experience of working with a broad variety of professionals on a wide range of assignments throughout the summer.  You will be a key member of the deal team, working directly with Managing Directors, Directors, Vice Presidents and Analysts on engagements. You will be given significant responsibility and will gain in-depth transaction experience, client exposure, negotiation skills, and an understanding of transaction structures. 

Day-to-day activities may include:

  • Preparation of and participation in new business presentations
  • Business research
  • Valuation analysis and financial modeling
  • Preparation of Confidential Offering Memoranda
  • Development of potential buyer lists
  • Preparation of management presentations

 

During the Summer Associate program, you will also receive formal mentorship, exposure to our Leadership team, and will be invited to participate in various social and networking events with bankers giving you the opportunity to build relationships and expand your network across the firm.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of prior work experience in corporate development, public accounting or finance preferred
  • Currently matriculated at a MBA, JD or equivalent graduate degree program and graduating in December 2023 or Spring 2024
  • Top academic performer with comfort operating in an unstructured environment which values initiative, creativity, maturity, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong quantitative background and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate use of Excel and PowerPoint preferred
  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to be “the best of the best”
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
